Earley Pettway, the first man of color to ascend to the post of Deputy Fire Chief in the City of Bridgeport, Connecticut and 2011 recipient of the African-American Historical Association of Fairfield County, Connecticut's Carter G. Woodson Award recently confided to the AAHA's Angela Harrison the secrets to longevity and personal success...particularly the secret of success and longevity for people of color facing overt, systemic racism and bigotry in life, work and their own personal enterprises.
